Quality Engineer
We seek an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Defence team at Wynyard (Building H). This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality of fabricated structures, and compliance with technical requirements of the customer and end user. The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Quality Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use precision metrology equipment (hardware and software) to analyse dimensional accuracy and generate detailed inspection reports.
- Identify and document non-conformances, propose corrective actions, and track their implementation.
- Support configuration management by ensuring accurate documentation and traceability of all materials, processes, and inspections.
- Participate in the review and approval process for engineering change proposals (ECPs).
- Participate and lead the in-process inspections program (PIWI’s) to ensure these are developed, maintained and completed in line with the Final Inspection and Test Plan (FI&TP) plan as per the Production Process.
- Conduct inspections of raw materials, in-process work, and finished products to verify conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years in a heavy fabrication manufacturing environment preferably in a quality-related role
- Proven ability to operate and interpret data from precision metrology equipment (e.g., CMM machines, and laser trackers).
- Strong understanding of quality control principles and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC).
- Formal qualification (Degree/Diploma) in a relevant discipline is preferable.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, or equivalent.
- Experience working with defence industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD) preferred.

Your work will be crucial in the delivery of production schedules and team management.
As a Mobile Plant Technician / Diesel Fitter / Diesel Mechanic Team Leader, you can expect your day-to-day tasks to include but not limited to:
- Supervise and lead a team of diesel fitter/mobile plant technicians and apprentices in daily operations
- Ensure the timely assembly of vehicle structures by schedules
- Handle issues within the team, resolving conflicts and maintaining high team morale

About the Role
The Resource Plannerrole will report to our Resource Lead and will principally be focused on material planning and purchasing. This is a key position within the Resources team and the broader Company.
Key duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Material planning and purchasing of products in line with the production schedule.
- Build and maintain strong positive working relationships with suppliers (internal and external).
- Maintaining purchasing data fields within our ERP system.
- Review supplier costs and lead times regularly and challenge/negotiate with suppliers (where required) and/or consider alternative suppliers to help reduce costs where possible and ensure that parts are available for production at the right time.

About the Role
We currently have a role available at our defence manufacturing facility based in Wynyard, Tasmania. The role is responsible for all aspects of abrasive blasting and painting large, fabricated structures, ensuring the highest standards of workmanship are applied and company safety and environmental procedures are always adhered to.
Key tasks will include:
- Inspect surfaces for contaminants and defects in preparation for painting and carry out necessary remediation steps.
- Prepare steel surfaces using techniques such as abrasive blasting to ensure optimal paint adherence.
- Apply APAS paint finishes to a variety of surfaces, such as steel, aluminium, and fibreglass
- Regularly clean and maintain painting equipment and tools, such as pressure pots, hoses, and compressors, to ensure operational efficiency.

About Our Teams
The Fabrication teams are a core part of our business in both our Defence and Yellow Iron Departments. The Fabrication teams play a pivotal role in the growth and development of our business through successful projects. Our Welder / Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator reports to the Fabrication Team Leaders and will be part of a supportive and inclusive culture.
About the Role
As a Welder / Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator working within the Elphinstone Defence team, you will be primarily responsible for carrying out fabrication, welding, and inspection tasks on the AS9 and AS10 structures, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with our quality and safety requirements. You will also be upskilled in this role to be qualified in welding armoured steel. This role will be based at our Defence manufacturing facility in Wynyard Tasmania, Australia.
As a Welder / Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator, you can expect your day-to-day tasks to include but not limited to:
- Read and interpret technical drawings of welded assemblies to determine specifications, tolerances and required materials to carry out the welding task.
- Comply with the relevant Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) before, during and after welding for operating parameters and temperatures, weld seam preparation, root gouging, welding sequence, use and handling of filler metals, visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing.
- Perform visual examinations of completed welds for compliance before being examined by the Welding Inspector within the quality team.
- Set up, operate and maintain various types of welding equipment and tools (e.g., welding torch, grinder, plasma gouger, overhead hoist, measuring tools) safely and efficiently.
- Conduct welding operations to manufacture armour steel welded assemblies in accordance with the relevant drawings, standards, quality and safety requirements of the Defence team.

About the Role
Elphinstone Pty Ltd is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our well-established team. As the Electrical Operations Supervisor, you will lead, coach, and develop personnel involved in harness manufacture to ensure each contributes effectively to the team's achievement of department goals and objectives.
As the Electrical Operations Supervisor, you can expect your day-to-day tasks to include but not limited to:
- Manage the allocation of work to personnel and develop shift rosters with the manager to ensure delivery targets exceed customer expectations.
- Develop and maintain systems to control the build process. e.g. Build procedures
- Review the schedule daily and liaise with electrical planners to confirm daily delivery requirements.
- Liaise with Leading Hands daily to ensure the broader team understands and can meet the required delivery schedule.
- Communicate any potential roadblocks that affect deliveries.
- Optimise employee workflow
About You
You will have a keen eye for attention to detail and quality. You can develop and maintain strong positive customer relationships (internal & external). You can adapt to changing work priorities while remaining calm and organised. You will display high motivation to develop your team through coaching and mentoring whilst being able to learn from your experienced team. About the Role
Elphinstone Pty Ltd is searching for a Warehouse & Logistics Supervisor to join our growing team. The role has become vacant due to internal movements. As part of the Elphinstone Warehousing team, you will oversee the general operations of the warehouse and its staff. You will assist the team in successfully meeting safety requirements and quality levels and efficiently and effectively receiving and dispatching stock.
As the Warehouse & Logistics Supervisor, you can expect your day-to-day tasks to include but not limited to:
- Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees
- Identify and assess potential issues that can affect deliveries.
- Review the timeliness of scheduled deliveries.
- Track inventory levels
- Order new supplies promptly
