About Our Assembly Teams
Our Assembly teams are primarily responsible for carrying out the assembly of components and machinery to deliver high-quality underground mining support vehicles and products to our domestic and international customers. These are new product builds with a clean working environment. Attention to detail and pride in your workmanship will be on display. Our primary assembly team is based at our Ormsby Street manufacturing facility in Wivenhoe.
About the Role
Over the course of the apprenticeship, our apprentices will work across various sites to experience differing stages of our underground mining support vehicles. Apprentices will develop their technical and leadership skills in an on-the-job environment, surrounded by experienced tradespeople and leaders. Technical skills that will be developed include the ability to diagnose and repair faults and develop knowledge of a range of steering, suspension, hydraulic, and braking systems for heavy machinery.
The apprenticeship will result in a qualification of Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.

About Our Fabrication Teams
Defence Team
The Elphinstone Defence Fabrication team, are primarily responsible for carrying out fabrication, welding, and inspection tasks on the AS9 and AS10 structures, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with our quality and safety requirements. The Defence team work on the welding of armoured steel and is based at our facility in Wynyard.
Yellow Iron Team
The Elphinstone Yellow Iron team, are primarily responsible for carrying out fabrication and welding tasks on our underground mining support vehicles. These are new product builds with a clean working environment. Attention to detail and pride in your workmanship will be on display. Our Yellow Iron team is based at our Ormsby Street manufacturing facility in Wivenhoe / Burnie.
About the Role
Over the course of the apprenticeship, our apprentices will work across both the Yellow Iron and Defence Fabrication teams. Apprentices will develop their technical and leadership skills in an on-the-job environment, surrounded by experienced tradespeople and leaders. Technical skills that will be developed include the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and understand welding product specifications, welding techniques and weld testing and inspections.
The apprenticeship will result in a qualification of Certificate III Engineering Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking).

About the Role
As an Administration Clerk, you will provide efficient and effective administrative assistance to the Production and electrical departments. The roles will include but not be limited to
Administrative Clerk (Production)
- This position is of a generalist nature undertaking a wide variety of administrative tasks across multiple departments.
- Providing support to our finance team.
- Provide general assistance to the Production department
- General data entry into our ERP system (M1)
- Monthly reporting including Continuous Improvement (CI) data and board reports
Administrative Clerk (Electrical)
- Assist the Electrical Team Leader in providing production documentation and implementing continuous improvement solutions.
- Create and maintain electrical “build lists”
- Interpret basic manufacturing prints to extract key information to generate build lists (training to be provided)

About the Role
The Product Support Supervisor role is based in Burnie, Tasmania and will report to our Operations and Support Manager. The role is responsible for providing professional and efficient support to our global customers through the provision of technical support (both field and remote) and replacement parts, while achieving budgetary and margin requirements.This role will require the successful applicant to lead, coach and mentor our Product Support and Parts Sales teams to provide an exceptional level of support to our customers. This role may require some travel to our customers sites both domestic and international as required.
Key duties include but are not limited to following
- Provide exceptional Dealer and Customer service, follow up and close the loop on any customer issues, whether in writing, by phone or in person.
- Ensure the proactive and planned delivery/field follow of production machines, prototype and pilot machine builds in the field.
- Ensure field issues are fed back to the business to facilitate continuous improvement of our products.
- Work effectively with all departments, to address and resolve customer issues.
- Assist with the development and distribution of product support literature
- Ensure an accurate record is kept of machine history, product issues, warranty claims, and follow-up actions.
About You
We are looking for an individual who will be a positive role model throughout the organisation. About Our Teams
The Fabrication teams are a core part of our business in both our Defence and Yellow Iron Departments. The Fabrication teams play a pivotal role in the growth and development of our business through successful projects. Our Welder / Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator report to the Fabrication Team Leaders and will be part of a supportive and inclusive culture.
About the Role
As a Welder / Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator working within the Elphinstone Defence team, you will be primarily responsible for carrying out fabrication, welding, and inspection tasks on the AS9 and AS10 structures, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with our quality and safety requirements. You will also be upskilled in this role to be qualified in and welding of armoured steel. This role will be based at our Defence manufacturing facility in Wynyard, Tasmania, Australia.
As a Welder / Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator, you can expect your day-to-day tasks to include but not limited to:
- Read and interpret technical drawings of welded assemblies to determine specifications, tolerances and required materials to carry out the welding task.
- Comply with the relevant Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) before, during and after welding for operating parameters and temperatures, weld seam preparation, root gouging, welding sequence, use and handling of filler metals, visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing.
- Perform visual examinations of completed welds for compliance prior to being examined by the Welding Inspector within the quality team.
- Setup, operate and maintain various types of welding equipment and tools (e.g., welding torch, grinder, plasma gouger, overhead hoist, measuring tools) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct welding operations to manufacture armour steel welded assemblies in accordance with the relevant drawings, standards, quality and safety requirements of the Defence team.

The experience and skillset suited to this role may include:
- Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent welder’s trade qualifications or extensive production welding experience (Desirable)
- Experience in welding to a Welding Procedure Specification (desirable)
- Experience with the use of MIG and TIG welding and plasma gouging.
- Experience in welding High Hardness Steels (may be advantageous)
- Strong understanding of complete welding and fabrication of major assemblies (may be advantageous)
- Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and procedures of structural components and entire vehicles.
- Overhead crane operation. (Desirable. Training will be provided).
- Basic computer skills. (Desirable. Training will be provided).
