Welding professionals, educators and industry leaders from Victoria and Tasmania gathered at the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV), Melbourne, on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, to celebrate the 2025 Victoria & Tasmania Welding Excellence Awards, recognising leading individuals and organisations across the welding and fabrication sector.

Elphinstone Group Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation and Community

The Elphinstone Group’s 50th anniversary celebrations brought together employees, partners, and community members to honour five decades of innovation, resilience, and contribution to the manufacturing and heavy industries.

The day commenced with an Open Day at the Ormsby Street Yellow Iron manufacturing facility in Burnie, where guests, including managing and executive directors from across the Elphinstone Group, past and present employees and their families, business leaders, and local and state politicians were invited to explore the company’s impressive history and achievements.

Byrnecut purchases the 50th Elphinstone WR820 configuration

Elphinstone recently commemorated the 50th Elphinstone WR820 Underground Base Platform to be sold and manufactured at its Burnie facility in Tasmania.

The 50th machine, a WR820 Agitator 10m3, is one of two agitators sold to Byrnecut for an operation in West Africa. Executive chairman and founder Dale Elphinstone welcomed Byrnecut Maintenance Manager for International operations, Luke Cheney, to inspect the machines, then joined employees for a photograph and refreshments to celebrate the special occasion.

EG20 Grader raises the bar in underground haul road maintenance

Elphinstone has set the standard in underground haul road maintenance with the recently released EG20 Underground Grader. Based on the Caterpillar next-generation 120 surface grader platform, the EG20 features improved operator comfort and delivers balanced weight, power, and agility to maximise performance.

The underground grader’s role is to prepare and maintain quality haul and access roads with adequate drainage throughout the tunnel network.

The added benefit is a significant increase in the productivity of the haulage fleet, reducing equipment tyre wear and increasing component life and speed on grade.
